Pet Therapy arrives at Milan Design Week 2023

Famous for their tongue-in-cheek exploration of some of contemporary society’s greatest obsessions, Alberto Biagetti and Laura Baldassari turn the clocks back to make us kids again, with a project dedicated to our childhood companions and real “friends for life” - Pets!

Pet Therapy revives that childish sense of wonder and enthusiasm that so many of us have forgotten. It plays on the mood-boosting benefits of the unconditional and reciprocal love of a furry four-legged friend, who turns the act of coming home into a joyous celebration of life - every single day.

The project will be presented with a site-specific installation inside Università Statale featuring a collection of pieces produced in collaboration with the “futuristic” Labseventy. The installation is home to giant, docile, lunar cats that become sculptural lamps and seats shaded by soft palm trees with crazy coconuts that double as lights.

Each object is a functional sculpture designed to activate the idea of a home without boundaries, where interior blurs into exterior and playfulness is a serious business that we just can’t do without. This scene, in which the onlooker becomes the centre of the action without realizing it, also features a number of multi-coloured spheres to sit on like on one of the beaches of the Italian riviera or in a Fellini movie where time seems to stand still. With Pet Therapy Atelier Biagetti presents a new domestic landscape in which every object is an enigma, a game, a daydream, a hologram, designed to be the true protagonist of a story that intricately entwines wonder with desire.
